The birth of vytinanka
How is a vytinanka born? Probably, each master has his own way. And every vytynanka, like every song or picture, has its own story. Some are born under the impression of some event or holiday, others are inspired by folk songs, ballads and legends, childhood memories, but each contains the attitude of the author himself, a piece of his soul.
My drawings are a search for new ideas, new forms, new lines. The search for harmony. For me, every vytynanka is always a miracle. A miracle of creation. I don't know where all this comes from and why. As if the soul is overflowing with some kind of beauty and it is no longer possible to keep it all inside, paper doves and angels fly out of the hands; snowflakes, stars fly out. Personally, I associate vytinanka with roots. This is my support and connection with my family. They give me strength to move on, to grow higher. The joy from the sorcery of creation by many ancestors of my family is probably embedded in them. I remember how skillfully my grandmother Marusya (Kingdom of Heaven to her) drew and carved doves. It seemed like a real miracle to me at the time
That's probably why I had my first vytinanka with a dove. It seemed to me that there were no rules and restrictions to be followed. It's as if you yourself spread your wings and fly up this white bird, connecting with your soul and spirit. Beauty!
And later I realized: carving is not just paper and scissors. It is an art where an image is born from emptiness, where subtraction becomes creation. And in each carved pattern we leave not only the form, but also the meaning, purified from excess.
Vytynanka teaches us to see the world simpler and at the same time deeper. It reveals harmony where, it would seem, there is only a blank sheet. It is a kind of conversation with silence, where every slit is a step towards inner clarity, towards that invisible beauty that hides in the soul and seeks to be born.
And every time the pattern takes on a completed form, I feel that a new story has been born. The carving becomes like a prayer, a dialogue with one's own heart. There is always light in it, even if it is carved from the shadow. After all, the art of carving teaches us: beauty is born not only in addition, but also in subtraction, in liberation from excess.
It is not for nothing that the people say: "As in the house of the vytynanki, so is the good standing on the porch." This saying reminds us that the vytynanki not only decorates the home, but also brings harmony to the soul. In the pattern cut out of paper, there is more than form - it contains the memory of generations and faith in the beauty of the world.
This is how a vytynanka is born - in the quiet trembling of the heart, in inspiration that comes suddenly, in memories and dreams. This art is simple and at the same time profound: it does not need words, because it speaks itself with line, rhythm, light and emptiness. And everyone who takes up scissors and a parir becomes a continuer of this ancient tradition - a tradition where a whole world emerges from a simple sheet of paper.
