Why does a person need creativity in the age of artificial intelligence?

We live in an amazing time.

Not so long ago, people spent hours searching for information in libraries, translating texts with a dictionary, drawing sketches by hand, and performing complex calculations.

Today, many of these tasks are being taken over by artificial intelligence.

He can write an article, translate a book, create an illustration, suggest a logo design, help a programmer, doctor, or architect.

And the question is increasingly being asked:

What will then be left for man?

In my opinion, it is the most important.

Art.

But not the kind of creativity that we are used to associating only with art.

Creative thinking is the main profession of the future

The world is changing so quickly that today it is no longer enough to simply know a lot.

You can perfectly remember formulas, rules, or historical dates.

You can find information quickly.

You can even learn to use artificial intelligence.

But this is not enough.

The future belongs to people who can think creatively.

Those who are able to see a new opportunity where others only see a problem.

For those who are not afraid to experiment.

Those who ask questions that no one has asked them before.

A person who can invent

Artificial intelligence works extremely fast.

He analyzes huge amounts of information.

Finds patterns.

Combines existing ideas.

And it does it much faster than a human.

But almost all of his answers are born from what humanity has already created.

A person is capable of taking another step.

Not just putting together a new picture from familiar puzzles.

And to come up with a puzzle that hasn't existed before.

This is how discoveries are born.

This is how new trends in art emerge.

This is how inventions that change the world are born.

Everything great once began with someone's imagination.

First there was a dream.

Then - a thought.

Then the first attempt.

And only after that is a new reality.

The art of asking questions

It seems to me that in the future, the most valuable skill will be not even the ability to answer.

And the ability to ask questions.

Ask not only "As?"

And first of all:

"Why?"

And even more importantly:

"For what?"

It is these two questions that distinguish the creator from the performer.

You can create a thousand new technologies.

But will they make the world a better place?

Will they help people understand each other better?

Will they teach us to notice beauty?

Will they bring more love?

Only a person is capable of asking himself such questions.

And it is they who determine the direction of civilization's development.

What artificial intelligence won't teach you

Artificial intelligence can write a fairy tale.

But he doesn't remember his grandmother reading it to him before bed as a child.

He can draw a wild daisy.

But he will never smell the scent of a summer morning.

He can write music.

But he will not survive the excitement before the birth of the child.

He won't cry for joy.

Don't be surprised by the first snow.

He won't fall in love.

He will not forgive.

Will not make a moral choice.

We will not seek the meaning of life.

All of this is human experience.

It is from him that true creativity is born.

How to learn creativity?

Sometimes students are surprised when one of their first assignments asks them to draw twenty different ladybugs.

Then, come up with different ways to create one butterfly.

From the outside, it seems like child's play.

In fact, it is an exercise in freedom of thought.

First, obvious solutions emerge.

Then they end.

And that's when the creativity begins.

A person stops remembering ready-made answers.

She starts making up her own.

This is what, in my opinion, needs to be taught to children today.

Don't be afraid to think differently.

Don't be afraid to search.

Don't be afraid to make mistakes.

The future belongs to the creators

I don't know what artificial intelligence will be like in ten or twenty years.

But I know something else.

A person will always be needed wherever a new idea is born.

Where you need to feel the beauty.

Hear the heart.

Make a moral choice.

Fall in love.

Forgive.

To dream.

That is why I believe that developing creative thinking will become one of the most important tasks of modern education.

Because the future does not belong to those who know the most.

And not even those who make the best use of artificial intelligence.

The future belongs to people who can see what no one has seen before.

And create something that has never existed before.

And, perhaps most importantly, always remember:

Why?

For what?
