My Josephine

I remember the incredible first impression that the works of the English artist Josephine Wall made on me. It was exactly what I felt and dreamed of painting. It seemed that it was simply impossible to invent and depict anything better. I was fascinated by her mystical worlds, bright colors that, like fairy-tale characters, came to life on the canvases.

And I tried to draw like Josephine...

At first, they were copies of her works. I immersed myself in the world of colors and shapes, without setting myself the goal of exact reproduction. Sometimes I painted as I could, and sometimes as it turned out. It is difficult to convey the magic of this process, but I felt: Josephine was teaching me.

So, in 2008 a series of works appeared "My Josephine" — free copies that helped me see the world through this artist's eyes.

Later, while working on another copy, I suddenly felt the need to draw in my own way. Not because I knew how best, but because I am different..

Today, looking back at those first attempts, despite all the technical nuances, I can say with confidence: they are still extremely emotional. It was an important stage in my development, for which I am sincerely grateful to Josephine Wall, the artist who opened the door to the world of art for me and inspired me to find my own style.
